LinkedIn presents job seekers with a dilemma: The site requires an “up-to-date current position (with a description)” for a 100% complete profile (see Profile Completeness list on LinkedIn); and according to LinkedIn, 100% complete profiles are 40 times more likely to be viewed. But if you are a job seeker, you might not have a current position other than “job seeker.” Should you create a “filler” job description to be 100% complete? Or should you hope that 95%-or-so complete is enough? Adding to this dilemma is that recruiters, according to experts in the careers industry, do not like to see made-up job descriptions in the current position spot. They prefer for job seekers to call a spade a spade, i.e., leave the current position description blank if they are not employed. Resume and LinkedIn profile writers come down on multiple sides of this issue. There are upsides and downsides to all of these options; in the end, let the numbers (how many people find you, view your profile and contact you) guide your choice. Option #1 One camp says to put something in the current position field indicating you are a job seeker. You might give yourself a job title such as “Target position: VP Operations,” or “Seeking next opportunity as Graphic Designer.” You can then write a description of what you offer that adds to what you wrote in your Summary. That is the most appropriate spot in which to put your volunteer activities. Option #3 A third camp says to leave the current job description blank if you don’t have a job, and to complete as many parts of the profile as possible. If your profile is 95% complete, you should still do well in searches. The Essay Expert’s Recommendation You might want to try both Option #1 and Option #3. I wouldn’t recommend Option #2. The great thing about LinkedIn profiles is that you can always change them and do different things to see what works best for you. Try this: (1)       Write a current position that says, for example, “Target Position: General Manager, Automotive” or “Seeking Opportunities as Financial Analyst”  or “Program Manager   Candidate” and track how many people view your profile and how often you are appearing in search results (this information can be found on your home page in the right-hand column). (2)        If you are getting sufficient activity in your profile, great. Don’t change anything! If not, the first thing to consider is whether you have enough connections to appear toward the top of searches. I recommend having 500+ connections in order to reliably raise your ranking in search results and increase page views. (3)       If you have 500+ connections and your profile is still not getting enough attention, either change what you have in the “current position” section or make it blank for a month. Track your profile views and appearances in search results. (4)       Repeat Steps #2 and #3 until you get the results you want. There are more options than these of course. Understanding on chapters 1-2, 6-7 and 8-9 in To Kill a Mockingbird Essaypilot

To kill a mockingbird is a type of Novel explaining how live grows under various circumstances that are extraordinary in southern United States in the year 1930. The length of the story goes to up to three years where the characters undergo significant changes in their mind, in the society and also body growth. The narrator of the story is Scout who is a girl aged between 6 to 9 years but she narrated the story to Lee like an adult. Scout is a tomboy who prefers to solve problems using her fists and not her head. During the entire story of the book, she comes to the understanding of the new nature of human beings, their expectations in their society and even in their world at large. The book talks about scout Finch, Atticus Finch who is her father and an attorney who is hopefully striving to improve how innocent black man accused unjustly of rape case can be and also at the end of the story he talks about Boo Radley who is their neighbor in town who mysteriously saved Scout and her e lder brother Jem from killings. In the first chapter, so much emphasis has been put on the background of the family describing the social ties that hold together a society. From the family of Atticus and his neighbor. Dill is one of the neighbors who represent the influences that children from a particular family can get from outside. Scout and Jem are thus influenced to become friends of Dill. They thus start their friendship and it is evident that they were interested in all the things that had to do with Boo because he was the only legend who was popular in those days. From a childs perspective that they can easily be misled is shown to have probed in this story than what adults can be capable of. The first chapter shows how children that are still young and innocent and have not yet been influenced by the society, show desires of seeing true things than adults in that society and they have the ability to understand prejudices,, fallacies and accusations from adults that are false. The first chapter is all about background of the family, heir history and neighbors of families. In chapter two, another foreign character outside the town of Maycomb where Scouts family lived is introduced as an idea to show the culture of Maycomb town where children were said to be poor, uneducated, and rough and from the rural. The culture of Miss Carole who wore make up and classic clothes than those living in Maycomb shows how the people in Maycomb were so ignorant when it comes to the mode of dressing and beauty. In the first chapter, we have seen that peoples identity is influenced much by the family and its history and so in chapter two the same behavior of influence is shown when the behavior of a child has to be explained by their familys last name. This was shown when Scout shouted the meaning of Cunningham and that they were farmers not so much interested in monetary things. This came along when Miss Carole wanted to give out money to one kid of Cunningham who did not go out for lunch. It is believed that family share values and in this case the child was described from the view of their family where they were believed that they are proud, they do not take money from people and cannot pay back money and they live in a poor land rather than to work for the government to earn wealth. This further explains about influences just like in chapter one. The chapter also shows how Scout is an intelligent girl at school during her first grade and had naturally learned how to read. Though she never liked to read till teacher Carole denied her to read. She grew up thinking that reading was pleasure and she took it for granted. It was her freedom to read and write in class but denying her to read claiming that she learned it in the wrong way was unjust but the children later learned about freedom and justice that was denied. Scouts reports this incident of denial to her brother Jem who comforts her. This shows how family is the only thing that can support someone. The issue of education continues for the entire chapters. Scouts and Jem now begin to closely relate with Boo when they plan to go to boos place playing the games of peeping through the fence and through his dark windows. Boo lived in a very isolated house and place. They later managed to access Boos place of residence and later learnt why Boo liked to be alone though they were still doubted him. From the chapter, 6, children can learn through ignorance and hidden truth through their persistence and urge to discover new things. They tried all the means to reach Boos place and after discovering why he liked being alone, they tried to reconcile him with the society again as at the end of the story Boo is said to have been very white and it was because of his color that he stayed alone. Atticus believed that something like color will never separate them from the whites and that would be achieved at one particular time.[bookmark: _GoBack] In chapters 7 and 8, the children still continue to show sympathy to Boo Radley. It is said that Boo mended Jems pants and placed them in the tree. Though this is very hard to read between lines, Jem understood this and at this point his maturity was seen. More reconnections to reunite Boo Radley to the society continued taking place as the kids kept on visiting his place of residence. Later in chapter 9, students at school began saying that Atticus the father of Scout and Jem defended the niggas. Scout and Jem started seeing prejudice that prevailed in their town Maycomb like kindness. Atticus thereby started to teach about tolerance and courage but in this chapter he still thinks about those who choose to disagree and majority are his friends. He thus did not accept to be stopped by them from fighting for what was right for the people. In Maycomb, prejudice against blacks gained much strength to an extent that members of the family started blaming Atticus for having defended Tom. This prejudice is the same as what Scout had learned. The main theme of the Novel To kill a mockingbird is that in the world where threatening peoples innocence by spreading injustice, cruelty, prejudice and hatred existed, goodness of people can later be revealed through sympathy, understanding and use of common sense which was very evident from the affectionate willingness of people in Maycomb town to help each other that helped them overcome the Gothic elements that had been introduced to their small town of simple lives.

Emperors of Chinas Xia Dynasty

According to legend, the Xia Dynasty ruled China beginning more than four thousand years ago. Although no firm documentary evidence has yet been found for this period, it is possible that some form of evidence exists, like the  oracle bones  that have proved the existence of the Shang Dynasty (1600 - 1046 BCE). The Xia Kingdom supposedly grew up along the Yellow River, and its first leader was a sort of community organizer named Yu who got all of the people to cooperate in creating dams and canals to control the annual river floods. As a result, their agricultural production and their population increased, and they selected him to become their leader under the name of Emperor Yu the Great. We know about these legends thanks to much later Chinese historical chronicles such as the  Classic of History  or  Book of Documents.  Some scholars believed that this work was compiled from earlier documents by Confucius himself, but that seems unlikely. Xia history is also recorded in the  Bamboo Annals, another ancient book of unknown authorship, as well as in Sima Qians  Records of the Grand Historian  from 92 BCE. There is often more truth than we might guess in ancient myths and legends. That certainly has proved true in the case of the dynasty that came after the Xia, the Shang, which was long thought to be mythical until archaeologists discovered the above-mentioned oracle bones bearing the names of some of the mythical Shang emperors. Archaeology may one day prove the doubters wrong about the Xia Dynasty as well. Indeed, archaeological work in the Henan and Shanxi provinces, along the ancient course of the Yellow River, has turned up evidence of a complex early Bronze Age culture from the correct time period. Most Chinese scholars are quick to identify this complex, called the Erlitou culture, with the Xia Dynasty, although some foreign scholars are more skeptical. The Erlitou digs reveal an urban civilization with bronze foundries, palatial buildings, and straight, paved roads. Finds from the Erlitou sites also include elaborate tombs. Within those tombs are grave goods including the famous  ding tripod  vessels, one of a class of artifacts known as ritual bronzes. Other finds include bronze wine jugs and jeweled masks, as well as ceramic mugs and jade implements. Unfortunately, the one type of artifact not discovered so far is any trace of writing that conclusively states that the Erlitou site is one and the same with the Xia Dynasty. The information about atoms known today is certainly much greater than what was known centuries ago. First, there were only hypotheses on this idea that everything in the world is made up of tiny, unseeable particles. As technology advanced, these hypotheses were tested, critiqued, modified, and built upon. A mass of knowledge is known regarding atoms, thanks to the research of numerous chemists and physicists. The atomic theory is the building block to the study of matter, just as the atom is the building block to all matter. Around 400 BCE was when the Greek philosopher Democritus, alone with his teacher Leucippus, the idea of the atom was born (the word atom comes from the Greek word â€Å"atomos† or â€Å"atomon† meaning â€Å"that which cannot be split†). This was a completely new concept, and Dem ocritus’s theory stated that atoms were indestructible and homogenous, and different states of matter were made up of differently shaped atoms: solids had sharp and pointy atoms and liquids had large round atoms. Later these ideas would be proved inaccurate, however, this was the beginning of the discovery of the atom even though the people of this time had no instruments capable of testing the theory. Embryonic stem cell derivation is controversial because there are different opinions and beliefs on when an embryo is deserving of full moral status, equal to the moral respect, rights and treatment to that of a human being. ESCs extracted from a blastocyst will undergo experimentation that would be considered unethical if it were performed on humans. Having a restrictive federal policy would eliminate the unethical destruction of blastocyst that is required to extract ESCs and it would push the scientific community to find other means to provide cells with the equivalent or sufficient potential to attenuate or cure disease, such as induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC). This made him back out of the war and gave the Greeks the upper hand once again. The gods were always against each other because of personal reasons and this caused many humans to die because of what they chose to do. The gods seem to have a unique relationship with the mortals in the epic poem. The gods do not actually care much about what happens to the humans. The gods do not allow something to append to the mortals based on this outside force that predestines everything. The gods, especially Zeus, believe heavily in fate. Zeus tells the other gods that fears something may interfere with fate, â€Å"If Achilles is the only fighting out there, the Trojan won’t last a minute against him†¦ I fear he may exceed his fate and demolish the wall. (20, 20)† He sent the gods into the war to stop Achilles from destroying the Trojan army before it was foretold. This causes much more death but that does not matter as much as fate to the gods. Not even the all and powerful Zeus would try to sees with fate. Zeus wishes to alter the destiny set for his son, and despite his superiority to the other Olympian (not to mention the other minor gods and goddesses), he is unable to resist the authority of his daughters, the Fates. Hear even makes him not go against fate. Zeus says â€Å"Fate has it that Sarandon, whom I love more than any man, is to be killed by Patrols. Shall I take him out of the battle while he still lives? (16)† Hear says â€Å"A mortal man, whose fate has long been fixed, and you want to save him from rattling death. 16)† So Zeus understood that he should to change the fate for even his dear Sarandon. This shows us once again that fate is more powerful than all of the gods. Zeus does care some about the Trojan, but he is just repaying a favor to Thesis, Achilles’ mother. Thesis begs Zeus â€Å"Give the Trojan the upper hand until the Greeks grant my son the honor he deserves† (1, 540 -541) and Zeus does it. He made the Trojan army start winning battles Just because of a personal debt to a goddess. This shows us how much he really cared for the outcome of the war. Zeus was the strongest of all of the gods and the mortals did not mean ere much to him. The power and authority of the leader of the gods, Zeus, is very prevalent throughout the Iliad. Zeus focuses on having the upper hand compared to all the other gods when it comes to power and authority. He never gives up the chance to remind the other gods who is the strongest of them all. Zeus was undoubtedly stronger than all of the other gods put together. He is even so certain of his power as to say that he could take them all on without breaking a sweat. Octavio Paz Amelia Freno Mrs.Broglie Multi-Culture Unit 3 Febuary 2001 Ocatavio Paz: rags to riches ?This is an irreplacceable loss for contemporary thought and culture - not just for Latin America but for the entire world,? said Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo. This was the common lost shared world-wide. Octavio Paz was known for many things in his lifetime such as his works of poetry and essays, because of his fine works of arts he often received many awards and recognizations for his skills and abilities in writing. Paz's writings often reflect his personal childhood experiences and allowed him to incorperation his culture and perspection of this native surroundings. Octavio Paz lets his culture shine though his works in many ways paz often descrides his native backrounds, interwinded certain slang words and examplifies his childhood experiences throughout his writings. Octavio Paz was born on March 31 1914 in Mexico City. Both sides of Paz's family came from different ethnic roots. His Fathers side was a group known as Mestizo from a state known as Jalisco. His Father was a lawyer who was involed in the Mexican Revolution. His grandfather was a well known jurnalist who fought against the French. Octavio's mother's side were purely Spanish imigrants. As a young boy Octavio Paz experienced the result of urbanlization to his village, Paz recalls: ?We lived in a large house with a garden. Our family had been impoverished by the revolution and the civil war. Our house, full of antique furniture, books and other objects, was gradually crumbling to bits. As rooms collapsed we moved the furnitur into another. I remember that for a long time I lived in a spacious room with part of one of the walls missing. Some magnificent screens protected me inadequately from the wind and rain . A creeper invaded my room......?. The civl war and Mexican Revolution seems to have a great effect on his writings. It seems to have given Paz a greater sense of domestics and pride for his culture and native lands. Octavios father was on influence on him because he had taken part as a lawyer in the Mexican Revolution, which gave Paz a sence of reality in the revolution. Paz probably got his unique writting abilities from his grandfather who often attacked the French . This makes it amazing that Paz's writings can be so calm with his influences being so bold. That shows Paz has the qualtities to be independant and go against the fades. The biggest influence on Paz's writing is not a person ,but a thing. It is his garden in his backyard. Octavio makes many references to this jungle like garden in his writings. Octavio even refered to this garden in his 1990 noble speech: ? The Garden soon became the centre of my world; the library, an enchanted cave . I used to read and play with my cousins and schoolmates. There was a fig, temple of vegetation, four pine trees, three ash tress, a nightshade, a pomegranate tree, wild grass and prickly plants that produced purple grazes. Adobe walls. Time was elastic; space was a spinning wheel. All time, past or future, real or imaginary, was pure presence. Space transformed itself ceaselessly. The beyond was here, all was here: a vally, a mountain, a distant country, the neighboors' patio....? Octavio bases many of his poems on his enchantment with the garden. Paz had great respect for his culture, he appoached the differences and tried to live within the set rules of his ethnic roots. The Mexicans/Spaniards are known as hard works and appeciate their earnings. Octavio went though many rough times as a child such as when Zapata ( a peasant leader of Mexico's 1910-1920 revolution) was murdered in 1919, and the Paz family went into brief exile in Los angeles and there they were selling pieces of furniture to make ends meet. Octavio soon made things change for himself. Paz with his interlecture mind and his politic sense was sure to be going far. At the age of 16 he got his first poem published and a year later he got his first essay published. In 1937 he travelled to many countries such as Valenica and Spain to participate in the International Congress of Anti-Fascist Writers.
